Some key contributors to the growing number of fintech companies and employee numbers in Wales include significant recruitment by the likes of Sonovate, Delio, Pepper Money, Wealthify, Credas and Principality Building Society. We’ve also seen a number of London-based challenger banks scaling in Wales. Starling Bank doubled its headcount in Cardiff, employing nearly 900 people across various business areas including financial crime, engineering, customer service and data science. FinTech Wales’ accelerator programme, the Foundry, continues to make a significant impact on developing jobs within our ecosystem with their cohorts creating over 100 jobs during the last year. The Foundry is also a significant factor in attracting international companies from all over the world to develop in Wales; Yacooba, Tropogo and FinalRentals being recent examples of this.

Our commitment to sell Wales to the world has never been more focussed and this mission provides an ideal platform for us to build on established links and discuss future export opportunities.
