ARCH

A Regional Collaboration for Health (ARCH) is a unique collaboration between three strategic partners; Swansea Bay University Health Board, Hywel Dda University Health Board and Swansea University".  ARCH is a long term transformational collaboration that aims to improve the health, wealth and wellbeing of the South West Wales region.

We have an ambitious portfolio of regional work, delivered through a programme of work as set out in the ARCH Portfolio Development Plan and underpinned by the Welsh Government publication ‘A Healthier Wales’ and ‘The Well-being of Future Generations (Wales) Act’ and benefit from the from the advantages of the Swansea Bay City Region (SBCR) City Deal.

We believe a joined up regional approach is the only way we will be able to deliver meaningful change to address service pressures, workforce fragility and to drive a vibrant life science economy. We will take a whole system approach to health and wellbeing with the citizen at the centre.

Within the scope of ARCH, the Research, Enterprise and Innovation programme of work will look to expand Institute of Life Sciences (ILS) facilities and activity across the region and drive an ecosystem of vibrant life sciences as follows over the next 1-3 years.  An ILS works in an interdisciplinary context of clinical, academic and industrial practice, research, enterprise and innovation. The unique model led by Swansea University’s School of Medicine with partners across the region supports the delivery of a sustainable health and life science knowledge economy for South West Wales and beyond.

Ongoing projects in this area include:- ILS Healthcare Technology & Innovation Centre at Singleton- ILS Morriston Campus Development- ACCELERATE Life Sciences & Health Innovation Platform - AgorIP Intellectual Property Commercialisation Initiative - Life Science and Well-Being Village, Llanelli – Health and Wellbeing Academy, Swansea University.
