Women in Cyber Unlimited is a fast growing network that champions gender diversity in the cyber sector, providing community, mentoring and visibility for women working in, or exploring, the industry across Wales. Founded by Dr Clare Johnson, an educator turned industry leader who is also Cyber Capability Lead at ITSUS Consulting and a former Head of Cyber Security at the University of South Wales, it bridges industry, academia and government.
The network brings together students, career changers and experienced professionals through events, talks and peer support, to champion women working in the sector, demystify cyber roles and highlight the breadth of opportunities beyond technical stereotypes. Clare works closely with partners such as NCSC, the UK Cyber Security Council, Welsh Government and the wider Cyber Wales cluster, advocating for practical steps employers can take - from inclusive recruitment to visible role models – over 'tickbox' approaches to diversity.
Women in Cyber Unlimited signals a maturing ecosystem that understands talent, culture and inclusion as competitive advantages. Clare's work supports Wales' ambition to grow its cyber sector by drawing from the widest possible pool of skills and perspectives, making the region a more attractive base for global companies that value diverse, high performing teams.
