Wales’ marine renewable energy sector delivered almost £30 million to the Welsh economy during the 2023/24 financial year. That’s according to Marine Energy Wales’ 2024 State of the Sector Report, published this week.

Key Findings:

  • Total cumulative spending and investment related to the sector in Wales has now reached a huge £292.9 million.
  • Despite a significant slowdown in spending compared to last year, 2023/24 is Wales’ second highest annual spend since we began producing the report in 2019.
  • Anglesey leads the way with an impressive £103.8 million now invested in the sector, followed closely by Pembrokeshire with £97 million.
  • Tidal stream is by far the biggest contributor, injecting £116.1 million into the Welsh economy to date.
