Dairy Partners’ is the only fully integrated pizza cheese and mozzarella manufacturing, shredding and processing business in Northern Europe.
Cheese production has been going on in Newcastle Emlyn in West Wales for over a century. The company reported a turnover of £52 million in 2015 and employs nearly 120 staff at two sites, one in Newcastle Emlyn in West Wales. It’s a mighty operation, with the company processing three million litres of its own milk per week, sourced from its own supply base near Newcastle Emlyn. It also buys additional supplies from accredited suppliers. Over 110 farms are directly contracted by Dairy Partners. Production includes mozzarella cheese in block, grated, shredded, cubed and in string and rope formats. The company supplies UK retail chains and international pizza chain stores. The numbers are compelling. Dairy Partners has bucked the world market price deflation by increasing its turnover by nearly 50 per cent. Export sales continue to soar, which have increased by over 150 per cent in 12 months. This is largely due to an investment of £4 million in the business over the past two years. A further £7 million of capital expenditure is expected in 2017/8.
In 2016, The Sunday Times International Track 200 placed Dairy Partners in 20th place of privately owned British companies with the fastest-growing international sales. This is a story of how a company making the most of natural Welsh resources can thrive on a global scale.
